Float plane lands heavy in Rotorua
This afternoon a float plane made an emergency landing on Lake Rotorua with three people on board.
The pilot landed the aircraft on the lake approximately half a kilometre from the shore. Damage was sustained to one of the float as the landing was reported as very heavy.
Emergency services responded. The passengers who were onboard the aircraft stayed onboard with the pilot until they were picked up by a local tourist operator. There have been no reports of any injuries.
The aircraft is being towed back to shore and it’s reported that the damaged float is taking water.
The Civil Aviation Authority has been notified of the accident.
