Student pilot lucky to be alive.

Pilot and instructor of a glider that crashed are lucky to be alive.

Emergency services are attending the scene of a glider crash at Matamata Aerodrome in Waharoa.  It is reported that the pilot, a 16 year old student pilot suffered serious injuries and has been airlifted to Waikatio Hospital.

The flight instructor received moderate back injuries and taken to hospital by ambulance a Police report said.

This incident has been handed over to the Civil Aviation Air Accident Unit.
