Landing aircraft hit by lightning.

Christchurch Airport emergency services were put on alert this morning after a small passenger plane was struck by lightning.

The flight was arriving from Tauranga when it was reportedly hit just before 11:50h. Christchurch Airport’s emergency services were put on standby but were not needed as the aircraft landed safely.

Local media reported there where 47 people onboard and none of them were injured.

A spokesperson from Air New Zealand told NZAviation.com that the aircraft would go through maintenance before flying again with passengers.
