If you have been trying to load the CAA’s website this week you’d either been served an error message or have a “Not found” error or a “Connection error.”

Out the window the weather looks somewhat bleak. The remains of last night rain lingers in the clouds above. Looking to the south the sky is a glowing shade of blue.

After flying from Auckland to Christchurch then driving through the hills to Wanaka my Photographer and I finally arrived.

This week aviation enthusiasts will be flocking to Wanaka by the 1000′s to get a glimpse of one of the world’s best and well known Warbirds Airshows.

This year the RNZAF decided due to some budget constraints it would not be able to fund an open day at Whenuapai or Ohakea.

The NZ Pilot Expo have announced that TVNZ’s Breakfast show will be dropping in on Friday morning.

The National Transport Safety Board (NTSB) in the USA announced it would consider a study into the safety effects of glass cockpits.

The PilotExpo takes flight this month at Ardmore Aerodrome with over 40 local business exhibiting their products and services.

In less than a month Wanaka once again come to life. The skies will fill with everything old and new.

So the summer weather is here and it’s the perfect time to fly to Great Barrier Island. We’d fly up the coast stopping at a few airports on the way. The wind was light and it was a very smooth ride. Check out the video blog of our flight.
