Fiji Airways first to launch new Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft in New Zealand

Fiji Airways is the first airline to bring the brand new single-aisle Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft to New Zealand for its inaugural flight from Wellington to Nadi today.

The new aircraft is more fuel efficient, has sleek modern cabin interiors and new amenities including seatback inflight entertainment and Wi-Fi, leather seats, larger overhead luggage storage and reduced cabin noise. All while minimising their impact on the environment.

Mr. Andre Viljoen, Fiji Airways Managing Director and CEO says “We’re pleased to announce that Fiji Airways is the first airline to bring the new Boeing 737 MAX 8 to New Zealand. Wellington Airport Chief Executive Steve Sanderson says “We’re sure business and leisure passengers will love this exciting new aircraft and its enhanced features. The new Boeing 737 MAX 8provides a fantastic direct flight option for those travelling from Wellington, Auckland andChristchurch.”

At only three hours away, Fiji is a perennially popular destination for Kiwi’s and demand for thedirect service has grown strongly since Fiji Airways introduced its Wellington to Nadi service back in2015.

With so many Kiwi’s looking to Fiji as a holiday destination, Fiji Airways have made it their priority toenable Kiwis to travel all year round by providing flights from Auckland, Wellington and Christchurchall year round – the only airline to do so in New Zealand.

Fiji Airways’ new Boeing 737 MAX 8’s inaugural flight departs from Wellington International Airport to Nadi today on Thursday, 20 November. The Fijian National Carrier also provides international connections from Nadi to destinations like Los Angeles, San Francisco, Honolulu, Singapore, HongKong, Tokyo and the Pacific with stopover packages in Fiji.
