Wings Over Wairarapa is taking off again.
Wings Over Wairarapa is taking off again in early 2023. The Hood Aerodrome and festival grounds
are set to see spectacular action back in the skies with family friendly activities, hospitality, and
entertainment on the ground.
The Wings over Wairarapa Charitable Trust is pleased to confirm that Wings Over Wairarapa Air
Festival will be taking place on 24 to 26 February 2023. This will be the first air show to take place in
New Zealand for several years due to the impacts of the pandemic.
Contributing $7 million plus to the regional economy, while showcasing the beauty, hospitality, and
opportunities the Wairarapa has to offer, Wings over Wairarapa is an iconic national event with a
long proud history.
“There are exciting times on the horizon for the festival. We have plans to see an already fantastic
event become New Zealand’s premiere aviation event” said Ron Mark, Trust Chair. “The time is
right, to grow the successful STEAM aviation and education programme, diversify and grow with
new aviation and space technology” he said.

Jenny Gasson has stepped down as General Manager after 9 very successful years at the helm. The
Wings Over Wairarapa team welcomes new General Manager, Carla Steed – Director of Cactus
Events and Sponsorship. The Trust are excited to see Carla join the team and build on Jenny’s many
achievements.
Given the extensive disruptions of recent years, the Trust wants to especially acknowledge and
thank the aviation community, event stakeholders and suppliers for their ongoing commitment to
the event. The team is delighted to be in planning for 2023 and look forward to working with the
airshow community, to bring an event that the region can be proud of, showcases aviation and
inspires future generations.
