Tickets Sold Out for Saturday of Warbirds

In a historic first, tickets for the Saturday of this Easter’s Warbirds Over Wanaka International Airshow have completely sold out, marking a significant milestone in the event’s 36-year history.

Organizers have expressed astonishment at the overwhelming rush for Saturday tickets. General Manager Ed Taylor remarked, “We can’t quite believe how much demand there has been for the Saturday but the great thing is we still have plenty of General Admission tickets for the Sunday.”

Despite the Saturday tickets being fully booked, enthusiasts still have the opportunity to experience the same exhilarating flying program on Sunday. Ed Taylor attributed the surge in demand to several factors, including the anticipation for Wanaka’s first airshow in six years and an exceptional aircraft lineup featuring iconic aircraft such as the WWII Mosquito, F-16 Fighting Falcons, and the American Eagles Jet Display Team, all of which have captured the imagination of attendees.

While there are still several thousand tickets available for the full airshow on Sunday through Ticketek, Taylor urged prospective attendees to secure their Sunday tickets sooner rather than later. Additionally, families have the option of attending the practice day on Friday, where all aircraft will be flying throughout the day, ground exhibits will be open, and children will be admitted for free.

Organizers are advising airshow patrons to arrive at the airfield as early as possible. Gates will open at 7:30 am on all three days, offering plenty of opportunities to explore ground exhibits before the aerial action commences at 10 am.

The Warbirds Over Wanaka International Airshow is renowned for its thrilling aerial displays, showcasing vintage and contemporary aircraft from around the world against the stunning backdrop of New Zealand’s Southern Alps. This year’s event promises to be no exception, with a diverse lineup of aircraft and entertainment ensuring an unforgettable experience for aviation enthusiasts and families alike.

For those who missed out on Saturday tickets, Sunday offers an equally spectacular opportunity to witness the magic of aviation history unfold in the skies above Wanaka.
